Join us as we start our journey thru a week of wonder and celebration!

Enjoy!
7:45 A.M. Marcy, Sidekick, Mascot and I leave York NY in the Barbie Cruiser on our trek to Washington DC.
7 hours later we are nearing DC. We followed someone in a little BMW. Driver looked like Barbara Streisand. Getting even closer, you can see the Cathedral in background.
Got checked into the hotel and were waiting to take the night tour. The bus never came to the hotel so we learned how to use the subway (Metro) real fast to get to the start point. It was close but we made it!

Jackson Statue in front of White house..Not Michael..RIP
Old Church on property next to White House. It is tradition for each president to attend once during his term. Not all of them do,(shame, shame, Bill Clinton) but President Obama has already gone there once.

Iwo Jima Memorial. See how large it is?
Dusk skyline
Lincoln Memorial
Marcy at Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial and reflecting pool behind her.
Korean War Memorial. This gave me goose-bumps and I felt like I was going to cry. It is a life size field of statues depicting soldiers on a mission, in the rain. It gave a feel of what our Soldiers go thru. The wall behind the field had images etched into it. Very awesome memorial.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Original memorial was a chunk of marble the size of his desk. This was per FDR's request. Later he was given a larger memorial that covers 7 1/2 acres. Too dark at this point to get good pictures.
Last stop, Jefferson Memorial
Tune in tomorrow for more updates.
