This doll is dear to my heart. She is not called June bride because her wedding was in June but because she was married in November of 1955 and her name is June. June is my mother. This doll was done as a Christmas gift for mother in 1999. She is a near perfect replica of June on her wedding day. First her hair was cut and styled. She was given rooted eyelashes and a slight face paint alteration. Her beautiful replica wedding gown has a sabrina neckline, fitted bodice and long lace sleeves with ring points. Her ballet length skirt consists of four tiers of chantilly lace over a boned hoop-skirt. Under garments including lace trimmed stockings held by garters and lacy panties as well as the traditional blue garter, were fashioned in accordance with what June wore that day. Her simple pearl earrings, white pumps, and a flat hat holding a fingertip veil of illusion completed her ensemble. No bride is complete without her bouquet, and June is no exception. Her hands were repositioned and as was the fashion in 1955, June Bride carries a tiny white lace covered Bible with a large purple orchid and streamers attached. She sure is beautiful!
June bride is on display in the collection of June Leake in York, New York.
